Chondrosarcoma of Thyroid Cartilage
Abstract
Cartilaginous tumours of the larynx are rare with approximately 250 cases of laryngeal chondrosacromas reported till date. Laryngeal chondrosarcoma commonly originate from cricoid cartilage while involvement of thyroid cartilage is quite uncommon. The rarity of chondrosarcomas with a spectrum of cytologic features often present diagnostic challenge to the cytopathologists. There are occasional case reports of chondrosarcoma of the thyroid cartilage diagnosed on fine needle aspiration cytology. We present a case of chondrosacroma of the thyroid cartilage in a 45 year male diagnosed on FNAC.
