Discussion Case #2

n
  • Procedure very bloody, blood gushed out with force on doing the FNAC
  • (Patient promptly fainted on seeing his own blood)
  • Bloody aspirate with few tissue fragments
  • Architecture apparent

  • Cells in loose follicular clusters: scant  single cells
  • Abundant but poorly defined cytoplasm
  • Nuclei somewhat spindly or round
  • Really bloody
DD:
  • Could it be ‘thyroid’?
  • Or Salivary gland?
  • Could it be ‘vascular’?

Odd location for thyroid

Pattern reminiscent of Carotid Body Tumour / Paraganglioma
